Tropical Fish Advice
- Do not damage the fins or skin during transport or unpacking of the fish.
- Do not overfill the tank (test the water regularly and partially refresh when necessary).
- aclimatiseer de vis zo rustig mogelijk over naar de nieuwe waterwaardes. Wees voorzichtig voor temperatuur schokken.
- Ensure there is enough oxygen in the water; use an additional (air) pump when fish are swimming too much at the water surface.
- Choose more than one type of food to provide a more complete diet.
- Do not feed the fish on the day of arrival. Let them acclimate to their new environment.
- Do not overfeed your fish. All food given should be consumed within a few minutes after feeding.
- Ensure that food, fish waste, and external debris do not sink to the bottom to prevent fermentation and pollution of the water.
- Carefully observe the behavior of your fish; it tells you a lot about their overall health.
- Ask for information in the store, read a good book on how to maintain fish, or join an aquarium club (www.bbat.be).
- Be critical of self-proclaimed specialists online or on internet forums.
- Good quality products (aquarium, pump, (LED) light, filter, ...) save you a lot of trouble after the sale.
